| Please be aware of the following admission requirements for CUNY colleges. Freshman applicants to bachelor’s degree programs must show that they are ready to do college-level work in English and mathematics. This can be demonstrated several ways: (1) by attaining a score of at least 480 on the reading and mathematics sections of the SAT (or a score of 20 on the ACT); (2) by earning at least a 75 percent on the New York State English and Mathematics Regents exams; (3) or by passing the CUNY Skills Assessment Test. For more information, go to
CUNY's website. Students not meeting the mathematics requirement may have to pay to take courses equivalent to the Math A curriculum at a CUNY community college before they can be admitted to a CUNY senior college. Students may retake Regents examinations under state regulations, and the score that is reported must be agreed to by the school and the student. In practice, this means that only the higher score is reported. JMAP encourages math teachers to advise students who have scores below 75 and who are thinking about attending a CUNY college to retake the Math A examination at every opportunity to improve their scores and chances of gaining admission to and graduating from college. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
